Description of Resources
The Museum is dedicated to the history and cultural heritage of Hungarian Speaking Jewry before the Holocaust. This includes besides Hungary of today also Slovakia, Carpathian Russia (Ukraine now), Transylvania (in Romania now), the Bachka-Banat area (in Yugoslavia) and Burgenland (in Austria). Besides the exhibition and audio-visual program, there are archives, library and a computerized information center.

Rabbinic Sources:
A fairly large library of secular and Rabbinic literature related to Hungary or by Hungarian Jews.
• Artifacts of secular and religious nature displayed. An Ark of Tora from a synagogue in Tokay recently retrieved from being disposed, shipped to Israel and restored, is on display now.

Lists of victims/Survivors--lists of victims of the Holocaust:
Lists of survivors living in Budapest in 1945-6 with personal information.

Cemeteries:
Close to 500,000 names of people buried in cemeteries in Hungary with personal details and locations.

Computerized information center , video collection.

Finding Aids:
ALL THE MATERIAL IS COMPUTERIZED and is available on request against a service charge and/or through a computerized “showcase screen” installed on their premises. The “showcase screen” contains the computerized material with proper links to names of locations, names of persons, and other useful links and is operated by standing next to it and finger pointing to the required links. The material is in Hebrew and Hungarian. The catalogues use the Dewey system and there is a list of subjects.

Description of Facility:
There is limited space and personnel for visitors. Material can be ordered in advance. Searches can be made from abroad. There is a brochure of the Museum in Hebrew, English and Hungarian.

Fees/Copies:
The findings and the screen content can be printed against a nominal charge. There are copying machines on the premises. Donations are welcome. U.S. Tax deductible donation can be made for the Museum through the P.E.F. Israel Endowment Funds, Inc.
