Description of Resources
The Archives of Jewish Education in Israel and the Diaspora is a resource center for the history of Jewish education. It was established in the 1950's by the Teachers' Union. The Teachers' Union recognized the need to preserve the documents and papers that accompanied the growth of the educational system in Israel from the beginning of the century when the first national secular schools were founded. At the same time it is a depository for the remnants of materials collected from the network of educational systems of Jewish communities around the world that no longer exist.

Located at Tel Aviv University and run by the School of Education under the supervision of the State Archivist, the Archives of Jewish Education works to create links with educators and educational institutions in Israel and the Diaspora. Teachers, educators, students and teachers-in-training utilize this rich resource, which includes materials written and created in the classroom, in teacher's meetings and professional organizations, and in the community.
